acrylic superhero table centre pieces

by:Top-In     2020-08-05
I decided to customize some superhero centers for my son\'s mitzvah.
This is done by ordering transparent acrylic using the main box part of the make-centered part and the laser etched superhero panel.
Also, each center has a superhero toy/prop that corresponds to the superhero.
This will also lead-
The lighting really made it stand out with a mirror at the bottom of the center.
Although I am doing 8 pieces, this manual is a central one.
I have finished four so far.
What you need is: the first step is to clip the side of the acrylic box together.
If the edges are too rough, then slight sand, but don\'t get smooth because acrylic glue works better on a rough surface.
In addition, make sure the acrylic part is straight and square.
I definitely recommend laser cutting as this is the best way to cut perfect square acrylic parts.
If you bought it like I did, then you need to check the set square and maybe a little bit more polish.
I know that the next time I mention QA Issues to my acrylic suppliers, what they offer me is not exactly what I ask.
I think I learned an important lesson.
The acrylic resin you buy will have a protective plastic film on both sides.
Don\'t delete this.
Helps to prevent scratches.
Before gluing the sides together, what we need to do is carefully cut the thin vertical bars on the edge of the protective film from both sides of the acrylic resin. See photos.
Therefore, we have obtained good acrylic to acrylic contacts for capillary bonding.
Do this on all 4 side blocks.
This should be 16.
First, arrange the fixture shown in the first image on a flat surface.
These bottom clamps will actually keep the top of the center piece as these edges will be placed completely flat in the fixture.
I configured the sides between the end pieces.
So the box will eventually become 300mm x 306mm.
Now pinch the corner at the top, but remember that this is actually the bottom of the center part.
If the acrylic face is not cut into a square, you will see it here.
But it should not have much impact on the building.
When connecting the clip, you need to make sure that the edges of each corner are flush.
Adjust the fixture from the corner to the corner.
You may need to do it several times in order to be healthy.
Once you have all the edges clipped, you may notice some bending in the middle.
This may be due to the fact that the acrylic resin is not completely stored on the plane and has a slight bend.
Even if the acrylic is very straight, it is possible to have a small gap.
To correct this so that we get the best acrylic contact with acrylic, I used two Adjusted luggage straps to wrap the acrylic tightly (see photo).
This should introduce any bending well and make sure there is a contact of acrylic to glue.
I used the Tensol solvent.
A very strong acrylic glue that melts the acrylic resin together instead of bonding together.
As the smoke is very strong, please make sure you do so in a well ventilated place.
Use a small 20 ml syringe with a blunt metal needle.
Adhesive using capillary action, tensol fluid is rarely used.
Take a long way a little bit.
Add 5 or 10 ml to the syringe.
Practice with a syringe and see how much pressure you need to use before trying it out on the actual acrylic box. .
The response is very quick, so be careful not to squeeze too tightly.
Direct the metal needle of the syringe to a corner of the box. See photo.
When you go, gently press the needle down the corner.
You should have a look.
The story sign that the liquid penetrates into the connection.
Do this for all who join and keep it dry.
Replace the syringe cover to prevent leakage and drying.
The solvent should dry in a few minutes, but it is better to keep it for 10 minutes.
After the acrylic glue is dry, take out all the clips carefully.
Keep in mind that the structural strength is still a bit fragile without a square top, so try not to put any inward pressure on the sides.
Before we start, we have to remove more protective film strips from the top edge of the acrylic box.
This should be the side currently sitting on the table, facing down, not up.
Turn the box over and remove 10 or 20mm of the horizontal bars from both sides of the acrylic resin on All 4 sides of the box.
It doesn\'t sound right, but I think you understand! :-)
This should be 8.
When you do this, turn the box over and place these edges face down on the table.
Take the top of 300mm x 306mm square and place it side by side with the acrylic box.
Make sure they are all rotating so the size matches.
You can lift the box and place it on the top of the square acrylic to test it and rotate to match the size.
Place side by side again.
Now remove the protective plastic film from the side of the acrylic square facing up.
You will stick this side to the box.
Lift the box at the top and align the corners and sides.
Make sure the two parts are flush and the box is square.
You should have good contact with acrylic to acrylic.
Use the syringe now, be careful not to touch or move the box and push the metal needle into one of the corners.
Start applying a little pressure and extend the needle to the next corner along the connection.
You should be able to see the solvent entering the connection due to capillary action.
Repeat this for the other three connections.
Dry the glue for 10 minutes.
You now have an acrylic box with a platform for display purposes.
The four laser etching panels were made with the black and white images I found.
I was able to make these in better graphics using coreldraw for etching and then etching.
It takes about 18 minutes each time.
The panel is A5 size and is transparent.
Transparent acrylic looks better when lit.
Before proceeding, you will need to clean the laser etching panel to remove white acrylic dust from the surface of the panel.
To make sure the panels on both sides of the acrylic box are placed the same, I cropped a cardboard placement template with the same width as the box.
Then measure the center, track around the panel and cut out the excess card.
Put the box on its side.
Be careful not to scratch the side.
We will remove the protective film and fix the etched panel on it.
Carefully remove the film from it
Facing one side of the box.
Place the cardboard on the top, align the top and side edges (See picture).
Place the object on top to keep it in place.
Now add the glue point to the back of the etching panel.
Remove the protective film from the back of the first panel.
Should be clean, if not, wipe with a wet sponge.
Place glue points near every corner (See image).
Remove the glue backing that leaves the glue spot.
Flip the panel and tilt up, place the top edge neatly into the corner where the template is placed, making sure the panel is straight and horizontal.
Then slowly tilt down and press in place.
Repeat this on three other sides.
Now let\'s add some finishing touches.
You can wrap around the top and bottom of the box with a silver reflective tape.
This makes it look good and can also hide any imperfect connections and edges.
Remove the remaining protective film.
I left this on and only took it away where I went to set it up.
You may need to polish the whole project with a soft cloth.
If you have any slight scratches then you need to use Novus acrylic Polish.
Deep scratches won\'t come out.
Arrange the LED lights in a square and place the mirror on it.
Place the acrylic center carefully on the lights and mirrors.
Also, I bought a pair of Iron Man masks from Amazon and glued them together.
Then place them on the plate stand at the top of the middle part.
In fact, I did eight central parts and hope you can see them in the photo.
I hope you like this.
Please vote for me!
Look at my other laser cutting instructions recently.
