FTII is existing and functioning as an independent organization under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India. FTII is a member of CILECT (International Liaison Centre of Schools of Cinema and Television), an organization of the world's leading schools of film and television.

FTII Courses offered
Following are the courses offered by Film and Television Institute of India:
3 year diploma courses in direction, editing, cinematography and audiography. 2 year courses in acting, art direction.
1 and 1/2 year course in computer graphics and animation.
1 year course in feature film scriptwriting.
1 year courses in Television - direction, electronic cinematography, video editing and audiography are also part of the courses
How to join FTII
The number of seats are limited and very few of the candidates who apply get selected. The admission notification is declared on FTII website sometime during March every year with last date of application around Mid May. Film and Television Institute of India - FTII conducts an admission test in July each year across India. The minimum requirement for all the courses is a bachelor's degree. There is no age limit for FTII courses. The session in FTII usually starts in August every year.
